What I Did

I worked at Precision Stripp from August 2016 to December 2016 as a co-op

During my time here, I was first introduced to working with and programming with a database language. The language, while very powerful, is not as well known as than more common database technologies such as MySQL. The language used during my time there was called Open Edge Progress. It is a higher language that is written more like Python rather than a language like C++, that incorporates the back-end, as well as the front-end into one single language.

While, most people most likely have not heard of Open Edge Progress, I have found that many of the core database principles, such as queries and how they are structured, are only slightly different from more mainstream database technology.

During my time here, I wrote programs to automate inventory reports, bug fixes, as well as developed a tool that made a virtual map of the location of inventory in the plants. Working here gave me the practical, hands on experience with databases that later proved to aid me in future co-ops as well as personal projects.
